Q: Are Omamori blessed by a real shrine or temple?
A: Yes. Every omamori in our shop comes from a real shrine or temple in Japan, where it was blessed. We carefully select charms from renowned shrines and temples across Japan — with a special focus on Nara, Japan's ancient capital and our home — and ship them directly from Nara.

Q: Can non-Japanese or non-Buddhists/Shinto people use Omamori?
A: Yes, of course. Omamori are cultural items meant to bring protection and good fortune to anyone.
You don’t need to belong to any religion to keep or receive one.
Many people around the world carry Omamori as a symbol of positivity, mindfulness, and connection with Japanese culture.

Q: How should I store or keep my Omamori?
A: You can keep your Omamori in your wallet, bag, car, or at home.
Avoid opening the inside or cutting the thread, as the blessing is sealed inside.
Keep it in a clean, respectful place where you often see it or carry it with you daily.

Q: Can I give an Omamori as a gift?
A: Yes, Omamori are often given as gifts in Japan — to wish for someone’s safety, health, success, or happiness.
They make meaningful presents for birthdays, weddings, travels, exams, and many other occasions.

Q: What should I do if my Omamori gets dirty or damaged?
A: If your Omamori becomes slightly dirty, you can gently wipe it with a clean dry cloth.
If it is badly damaged or torn, it’s best to dispose of it respectfully (see disposal instructions below) and replace it with a new one.

Q: Do you offer Omamori for specific wishes (e.g., love, study, safe travel)?
A: Yes. We offer a wide variety of Omamori for different purposes, such as:

Q: Do I need to replace my omamori every year?
A: There is no strict rule. Many people in Japan get a new omamori around the New Year as a fresh start and to give thanks for the past year’s protection, but you are welcome to keep yours for as long as you like.

Q: How long does it take to receive omamori after order?
A: We usually ship omamori within 1 to 3 business days after order. We ship by FedEx or Japan Post EMS (Express Mail Service), depending on the destination (orders to the European Union are shipped by FedEx), and delivery typically takes around 3–7 business days.

Q: How should I dispose of an old Omamori?
A: In Japan, Omamori are usually returned to the shrine where they were originally obtained so they can be respectfully burned in a purification ceremony. However, since our shop is not a shrine, we do not accept returned Omamori. We kindly ask customers to handle disposal themselves.

If you are outside of Japan, here are some general steps you can follow to dispose of an Omamori respectfully:

  1. Express Gratitude – Hold the Omamori in your hands and silently thank it for its protection and support.
  2. Wrap in Natural Materials – Wrap it in a clean sheet of paper or cloth (preferably cotton or paper).
  3. Burn or Bury (Optional) – If possible, you may respectfully burn it in a safe manner, or bury it in the earth to return it to nature.
  4. Alternative Option – If burning or burying is not possible, you may place it in the regular trash after wrapping it respectfully. Many people also include a small amount of salt as a symbolic gesture of purification.

There is no strict requirement, but showing respect and gratitude is the most important part of the process.

Q: How do I track my international shipment?
A: We send you a tracking number by email when your order ships.

  • You can track your package with that number on the FedEx or Japan Post website, depending on the carrier used for your order.
  • If you don’t see the email, please check your spam folder or contact us with your order number.

Q: What is your return and exchange policy?
A: Wherever you live, you may return items within 14 days of delivery. Please contact us at info@omamorijapan.com with your order number before sending anything back. Items should be unused and in their original condition, with the pouch still sealed. Return shipping is paid by the customer unless the item is defective, damaged or incorrect. Orders can be cancelled at any time before shipment. For complete details, see our full Refund Policy.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay for a fast and secure checkout experience.

Q: Are there any additional fees like customs or import taxes?
A: For orders shipped to the United States, duties and import taxes are included in your order total — no surprise fees at delivery.

For orders to the European Union, prices include VAT, and any customs duties are paid by us. There are no additional charges on delivery.

For orders to other countries, customs duties or import taxes may apply depending on your local regulations. These fees are determined by your country's customs office and are the responsibility of the recipient.
